UG School of Law wins 2025 Jessup Ghana Moot Court competition

The University of Ghana School of Law (UGSoL) Moot Court and Advocacy Team, which emerged as national champions at the 2025 Templars Jessup Ghana Moot Competition, has presented the trophy and medals won at the competition to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo.

The team was accompanied by Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem Sai; Dr Kweku Ainuson; and Mr Augustine Kidisil, all faculty members, for the presentation to the Vice-Chancellor.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the team and the University of Ghana School of Law on their achievement.

She stated, “I am happy to see that the growth of UGSoL has not been at the expense of quality. We are proud of you and what you have achieved. We expect a lot more from you. Rest assured that we are with you.”

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gordon Awandare, encouraged the team to continue pursuing success. He said, “You have taken upon yourselves the challenge of setting a benchmark: you need to keep winning.”

On behalf of his colleagues, team member Bernard Mwinyele Banoenumah pledged to intensify their preparations for the international competition, aiming to bring home the coveted championship.

In the competition, the team secured a flawless record of four wins and zero losses, culminating in a spectacular victory over the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Beyond emerging as national champions, Team UGSoL also won three prestigious awards: Best Respondent Memorial, Best Overall Memorial, and Second Best Overall Oralist.

The UGSoL team comprised Bernard Mwinyele Banoenumah, Elsie Eyram Akubia, Ann Aseye Donya, Andy Nyarko Asare, and Freda Elinam Ganu. The team also included two faculty advisors, Liz Fafa Logan and Sarah Anane.

Among those present at the event were the Registrar, Mrs Emelia Adjei Mensah; the director in charge of academic affairs, Mrs Lydia Anowa Nyako-Danquah; and Pascaline Kuunzungla Songsore, Senior Assistant Registrar at the Documentation and Information Unit of the Public Affairs Directorate.
