Upper West Akim MP supports 30 tertiary students with fee assistance

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper West Akim, Emmanuel Kwasi Drah, has supported 30 tertiary students with GH₵60,000 for fees payment as his “Drah Education Trust Fund” initiative kicked off.
At a short ceremony held at the Adieso District Education Directorate in the Eastern Region, each beneficiary received a sum of GH₵ 2,000 as support to cushion their fees for the 2025/2026 academic year at different levels of tertiary education.
The initiative was in fulfilment of a campaign promise by Mr Drah to support brilliant needy students in his constituency in various tertiary institutions across the country.
Two more batches of 30 students each are expected to benefit similarly from the same programme in October and December this year, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 90 and the total of financial support investment to GH₵ 180,000.
Speaking at the event, the MP said the initiative marked a significant milestone in his vision to empower the next generation of leaders in the constituency.
Mr Drah emphasised that education was the bedrock of development and expressed his commitment to supporting brilliant needy students to also gain quality education and shape their future for good.
“Education is now the bedrock of every country, and as a country, we must invest in our young people who are the human capital for building the future. It is my passion and vision to ensure that at least every brilliant needy constituent of Upper West Akim gets the needed support to have a positive start to life, as long as education is concerned,” he said.
The Lawmaker stated that every child deserved access to quality education, regardless of financial background, stressing that the Drah Education Trust Fund aimed to bridge the financial gap and unlock the potential of brilliant needy students.
The MP urged beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity, work hard, and stay focused, while he expressed confidence that they would make the constituency proud. He also emphasised that their success would reflect the constituency’s success.
Mr Drah expressed gratitude to the District Education Directorate for the support and collaboration, stating that together, they could build a brighter future for the children and the constituency.
