US Embassy Takes Action To Prevent HIV/AIDS In Ahafo Region

The Lead Trainer for the US Embassy and PEPFAR Media Programme on HIV/AIDS, Kingsley Kyereh, has made a clarion call to residents of the Ahafo Region to actively engage in the HIV and AIDS campaign to mitigate the spread of the diseases.

In an interview with Adom News reporter Sammy Asare at Kenyasi, after a training session for journalists in the Ahafo Region on HIV and AIDS-related issues, Mr. Kyereh spoke on the alarming rate at which HIV/AIDS is increasing in the region. He emphasized the critical need for collective action to combat the spread of the diseases effectively.

Mr. Kyereh emphasized that in order to effectively battle the illnesses, complete education and awareness must be ensured through mass involvement in the HIV/AIDS campaign, rather than restricting it to a limited portion of the community.

Speaking about the training workshop’s influence, a few journalists who attended the two days claimed to have gained a better awareness of topics relating to HIV/AIDS.

They said that when the information is with the public, it would greatly aid in the attempts to slow the spread of the illnesses.

The training program, directed by Kingsley Kyereh and funded by PEPFAR and the US Embassy, is an important step toward equipping journalists in the Ahafo area with the skills and information they need to actively combat HIV and AIDS.

The media may be a powerful tool in increasing awareness, debunking myths, and advocating for preventative measures to stop the spread of AIDS within communities through well-informed reporting and public education campaigns.
