The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that its 2025 Annual National Delegates Conference, set for Saturday, July 19 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, will be held under the theme “Rebuilding Together with Our Values.
The theme, according to the party’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, captures the NPP’s renewed focus on unity, reflection, and reform as it seeks to restructure its internal machinery and position itself strategically for the 2028 general elections.
At a press briefing in Accra, Mr Ahiagbah said the conference will consider key amendments to the party’s constitution, including proposals from the 2019 Delegates Conference in Kumasi and recommendations from the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee report.
“That report, which has a package of amendments… and proposals resulting from the reports from the Mike Oquaye Committee and other amendments submitted by the party members, is part of the bundle of amendments that this conference will consider,” he explained.
Although the 2019 reforms were approved at the time, Mr Ahiagbah noted that they are only now being formally presented for adoption.
He described the conference as a “crucial event” in the life of the party, adding that it will offer an opportunity to reshape the NPP into a more resilient and forward-looking political force.
“The theme reflects the collective effort we must make to build a stronger NPP rooted in our core principles. This conference provides a platform for the party to re-engineer its path towards a more rewarding and encouraging future,” he said.
Other items on the agenda include statements from the National Chairman, the General Secretary’s report, and a financial report from the National Treasurer.
Mr Ahiagbah expressed appreciation to the conference planning committee, led by Hon Joseph Osei-Owusu and supported by Henry Nana Boakye, for what he described as their tireless work behind the scenes.
“We thank them and the many other people who are behind the scenes supporting and working tirelessly, and their efforts and insights have resulted in what we have today,” he said.
The NPP also praised the efforts of the Publications and Media Sub-Committee for their role in ensuring comprehensive coverage and access to the conference proceedings.
