Wenchi: Church Honours And Awards 20 Girls For Preserving Their Virginity

Over the weekend, 20 girls were honored by the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) Wenchi West District of the Mid-West Ghana Conference in the Bono Region for maintaining and retaining their virginity.

During a Thanksgiving service performed at Wenchi as part of the celebration of the first Sabbath Day of the Church, each of the 13–16-year-old girls received an undisclosed amount of money for their maintenance.

The Young Adventist Women Ministries’ Wenchi West District Coordinator, Mrs. Nana Amponsah Poku, praised the girls for maintaining their virginity and advised them to do so before getting married.

“God created you uniquely beautiful and you must not allow anybody to lure and break your virginity until you marry”, she urged the girls, and asked them to be cautious about the friends they picked in 2025.

According to her, the ministry is devoted to helping young women and girls develop into responsible individuals who can contribute to society.

Mrs. Poku emphasized the necessity for society to revisit long-standing, traditional standards that shield girls from promiscuity, stating that practices like puberty rites should be reinstated in order to maintain virginity.

In addition to praising the girls for their admirable example of maintaining their virginity, Pastor Andrews Dua Bour Kyere, the Associate Pastor of the SDA Church’s Wenchi West District, encouraged girls in the Church to stay “pure” and focus on their education.

A few of the girls conveyed their joy at the recognition and thanked the church for helping to foster their spiritual growth and development.
