Yendi Municipal Assembly confirmes the President’s nominee as Municipal Chief Executive

Yendi Municipal Assembly confirms President’s nominee as MCE

 

The confirmation ceremony which took place during a special meeting of the assembly at the Yendi Community Centre Conference Hall in the Northern Region also saw the election of Alhassan Inusah Achire as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly.

Mr Achire polled 30 votes, representing 67 per cent of the two-thirds needed to become the PM.

The President’s nominee for the MCE, Mr Muniru, also polled 40 votes, representing 96 per cent of the Yes votes cast, with two No not in favour, representing four per cent.

The 43 member assembly that voted to elect the PM and confirmed the MCE comprise of 30 elected assembly members and 13 government appointees.

Acceptance speech

In his acceptance speech, Mr Sugri said his vision is to make the Yendi Municipality a model and the most transformed municipality with excellent service delivery, inspired by the President’s vision to reset and transform the country.

He cautioned that his administration will not countenance mediocrity on the part of the staff of the assembly as far as the service is concern.

Appreciation

The Northern Regional Minister, John Ali Adolf, thanked the assembly members for the support they have shown to the President’s nominee.

He expressed the hope that the Yendi MCE would perform by bringing all the assembly members together to work in unity for the development of the municipality.

The election was conducted by the Yendi Municipal Electoral Officer, Dominic Denteh, and his staff.

The PM and the MCE of the assembly were sworn in by the Yendi Circuit Court Judge, Ebenezer Kweku Ansah.

He also swore in the new 13 government appointees of the Yendi Municipal Assembly.
