2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Black Stars Begin Camping With 8 Players

The first set of eight players reported to camp as the Black Stars got ready for their pivotal final round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, the team got together on Monday morning to begin their first training session.

Five international players participated in the session: Gideon Mensah, Mohammed Kudus, Elisha Owusu, Joseph Wollacott, and Osman Bukari. Three local players were also present: Rasak Simpson from Nations FC, Isaac Afful from Samartex, and Emmanuel Antwi from Asante Kotoko.

To strengthen the team, coach Addo expects more players to report to camp by Monday night.

Before leaving for Luanda on Wednesday, the Black Stars are expected to exercise behind closed doors on Tuesday.

On Friday, November 15, they will play Angola in their fifth-round qualifying match at the Estádio 11 de Novembro. After that, on Monday, November 18, the team will play Niger at home at the Accra Sports Stadium to finish the qualifications.

Ghana is now in third place in Group F with just two points from four games, so they have no direct influence over qualifying.

The Black Stars need to win both of their remaining games and hope that Sudan, who are now at seven points, loses both of theirs in order to guarantee a spot in the tournament in Morocco the following year.
