2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Black Stars Begin Training Today For Sudan Clash

Today marked the formal start of the Ghanaian Black Stars’ preparations for their forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Sudan.

Head coach Otto Addo selected a 25-man lineup for the pivotal doubleheader against the Sudanese Falcons on Friday. The chosen athletes are  to report to the team’s Accra camp, located in the Alisa Hotel.

As of Sunday night, four players have reported to the camp: Jojo Wollacott, Elisha Owusu, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Antoine Semenyo. Moreover, defender Isaac Afful of FC Samartex and goalkeeper Frederick Asare of Asante Kotoko are anticipated to join the squad this morning.

Fans are welcome to attend the team’s first training session, which begins at 16:30 GMT today at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The seminars on Tuesday and Wednesday, however, will not be open to the public.

After a difficult start to the qualifiers—they lost to Angola in their opening two games and drew with Niger—Otto Addo and his team are keen to win all six points against Sudan.

On Thursday, October 10, the first leg of the Sudan match will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium. On October 14, the second game will take place at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
