Due to a hamstring injury, Iñaki Williams, a striker for Athletic Bilbao, might miss Ghana’s final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The 30-year-old forward’s injury was announced by the Spanish team before Sunday’s La Liga encounter at José Zorrilla Stadium against Real Valladolid.
Williams made an effort to get better, but he was eventually disqualified from the match.
“Athletic Club forward Iñaki Williams will miss Sunday’s LaLiga clash with Real Valladolid after straining his left hamstring,” the club stated.
On Monday, Williams will get a scan to assess the severity of the injury.
Ghana’s 25-man lineup for the next qualifiers featured the forward, who has five goals this season.
Before playing Angola’s Palancas Negras at the Estádio 11 de Novembro on November 15, the Black Stars will start their training camp in Accra on Sunday. Sessions will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
On November 18, at the Accra Sports Stadium, they will play Niger to conclude the qualifications.
With two points from four games, Ghana is currently in third position in Group F, behind Sudan and Angola, as they look to qualify for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
