Sena Agbeko scheduled to fight David Morrell
Sena Agbeko scheduled to fight David Morrell.
After a planned April bout was cancelled, Ghana super middleweight contender Sena Agbeko will fight Cuban boxer David Morrell Jnr. in December.
The rescheduled Agbeko-Morrell matchup takes place on December 16 at a yet to be determined location. The bout will headline TV network Showtime’s final boxing event.
The original bout was called off due to medical concerns for Agbeko that prevented the Nevada Sorts Commission from giving him a license to fight on the Ryan Garcia-Gervonta Davis fight card on April 22 in Las Vegas.
Agbeko lashed out at the decision and called out the authorities publicly while tagging Morrell a “coward” who ducked the fight.
Morrell fought Brazilian Yamaguchi Falcao instead of Agbeko and scored a knockout win while Agbeko scored a technical knockout win over Bruno Leonardo Romay in October.
The winner of the bout gets into the mix of challengers for top rated fighters like Caleb Plant, Demetrius Andrade and Jermall Charlo with Canelo Alvarez set to fight David Benavidez.
