Bayern Munich is reportedly in talks with Zinedine Zidane to join the team before the Champions League semifinals, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The newspaper said that sources familiar with the talks revealed that although nothing has been signed yet, negotiations are almost complete, and Zidane has already requested new signings to be made.
Zidane has been without a job since leaving Real Madrid as a manager for the second time in 2021.
He recently played a legends match at the Bernabeu, left Real Madrid, allowing Carlo Ancelotti to take over.
In recent weeks, there have been strong rumors linking Zidane to Bayern Munich as their next manager.
Bayern Munich and their current manager, Thomas Tuchel, will part ways on June 30. Xabi Alonso, a potential successor, renewed his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, taking him off the table.
In the 2024/2025 season, Zidane is likely to become Bayern’s new coach. According to Mundo Deportivo, he’s very close to signing the contract. He was competing with Julian Nagelsmann for the job, but Nagelsmann decided to extend his contract with the German national team. Although Zidane hasn’t signed yet, the deal is almost done.
He wants to strengthen the defense and make some changes in the team. Alphonso Davies might leave for Madrid, but his contract with Bayern ends in 2025, so he might stay for another season.
