GFA Charges RTU For Fielding Ineligible Players vs Dreams FC

Real Tamale United (RTU) has been charged with misconduct by the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee in response to claims about their Premier League matchup with Dreams FC.

RTU went to the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Wednesday afternoon to play Dreams FC in their Matchday 28 match.

Even though they scored first, RTU lost badly, 8-1.

Investigations conducted after the game showed that RTU had played players who were not eligible and had presented themselves as registered players for the match.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee stated:

“Real Tamale United have been charged with a breach of Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, following their Ghana Premier League game against Dreams FC. It is alleged that the club intentionally deceived the match officials by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players of their club, which constitutes misconduct and brings the name of the game into disrepute,”

RTU has until June 14, 2024, on Friday, to react to these accusations.
