Former Legon Cities Goalkeeper William Essu Is Dead

William Essu, the former goalkeeper for Legon Cities, has been ruled deceased.

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, in the University of Cape Coast Hospital in the Central Region, Essu, 22, went to be with his maker.

Doctors ran a number of tests on him but were unable to identify the source of his ailment.

After that, he was moved to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for more testing, but the findings were still pending.

Essu seemed to be getting better on Saturday afternoon, but that evening, his condition deteriorated and he passed away.

Essu was a part of the Ghanaian U-23 squad that made it to Morocco for the AFCON the previous year.

He had requested that the Ministry of Youth and Sports reimburse his unpaid incentives in order to pay for his medical bills while he was ill.

Sadly, he died without getting the money that was due to him for his national service.

With the passing of Sylvester Sackey in September 2023, Legon Cities has now lost two goalkeepers in less than a year.
