Mexico ‘s Edson Alvarez Carried Off In Copa America Game With Leg Injury

With an upper leg injury, West Ham’s Edson Alvarez departed the field thirty minutes into their Copa America encounter against Jamaica.

In the Copa America match against Jamaica, Edson Alvarez of Mexico and West Ham was substituted due to a leg injury around the 30-minute mark. He pulled up while defending against a counter-attack, requiring medical assistance.

It’s a big setback for El Tri, and depending on how serious the injury is, it could really impact their tournament. On top of that, he’s been linked with top European clubs this summer, especially Manchester United, but now his transfer might be in doubt.

Alvarez is Mexico’s captain and possibly their greatest player. He earned his 81st cap for El Tri on Saturday.

Alvarez and Mexico play again Wednesday in the Copa America, facing Ecuador as they aim for their first win.

Alvarez’s injury severity will be assessed by medical staff soon.
