Bayern Contracts Olise From Crystal Palace At £60 Million

Bayern Munich has agreed to a five-year contract with Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, having already paid a release clause of approximately £60 million.

During his three seasons at Palace, the 22-year-old forward for France Under-21, who was born in England, made 90 appearances in all competitions.

For £8 million, he left Reading to join the Eagles in July 2021.

Earlier this summer, Olise attracted interest from Chelsea and Newcastle United, but he decided to travel to Germany and work under new Bayern manager Vincent Kompany.

Olise scored 10 goals in 19 Premier League games, helping Palace finish 10th last season. He’s been selected for France’s Olympic squad for the upcoming Paris games. Palace chairman Steve Parish praised Olise’s development and respected his wish to compete at the highest level.

Bayern is also signing Fulham’s Joao Palhinha for £42m plus £4m in add-ons. The 28-year-old Portugal midfielder almost joined Bayern last summer, but the deal fell through.

Additionally, England defender Eric Dier has joined Bayern permanently after a loan from Tottenham. Bayern’s 11-year dominance in the German league ended last season, with Bayer Leverkusen taking the title.
