6 Suspects Remanded Over Murder Of Prison Officer In Kasoa Iron City [Video].

Six suspects have been placed under judicial remand by the Amanfrom District Court in relation to the killing of Gideon Adu Boakye, a prison officer, at Kasoa Iron City.

This was the moment the suspects showed up for the Friday court hearing, which was chaired by Her Worship Emelia K. Abruquah.

The defendants have been placed under detention and are scheduled to return to court on October 22, 2024, at Ankaful Prisons.

The six are: thirty-year-old baker Akrama Abraham; forty-two-year-old trader Esther Efa; eighteen-year-old student Abigail Yaa Kyeiwaa; forty-two-year-old photographer Ebenezer Aidoo Frimpong; and thirty-year-old baker Naomi Owusu.

They are accused of assaulting a public official, killing a public official, and helping to facilitate a murder.

Inspector Maxwell Kwakye, the state prosecutor, had asked for a remand into police custody while the inquiry was ongoing, but the accused’s attorney had also begged for bail.

But the court rejected the bail request, remanding them in the custody of the prison system while the investigations continue.

The deceased, who was a prisoner officer at Nsawam, was slain over the weekend after being accused with theft without proof.
