Van Dijk And Salah Withdrawn From International Duty

After returning from international service, Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will rejoin the team sooner than anticipated.

Van Dijk, the captain of the Netherlands, was sent off during Friday’s 1-1 draw with Hungary. As a result, he will miss Monday’s Nations League match against Germany.

In a 2-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying win over Mauritania in Cairo on Friday, Egypt’s captain Salah scored.

He was supposed to play in Tuesday’s rematch, but he was dismissed early, just like Van Dijk.

It gives manager Arne Slot of Liverpool more motivation as his team prepares to play Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, October 20 (16:30 BST).

One point ahead of champion Manchester City, the Reds led the table heading into the international break.
