Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared his intention to create a National Pilgrimage Authority to oversee religious pilgrimages for Christians and Muslims in Ghana.
He clarifies that this authority will organize and manage Hajj pilgrimages to Mecca and enable Christian worshippers to travel to Israel.
Speaking to the congregation on Sunday, November 10, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Atimatim in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency, Dr. Bawumia underlined the significance of establishing a systematic, open system to oversee these holy pilgrimages.
“This initiative will extend beyond benefiting only Muslims. It will also include Christian pilgrims wishing to travel to Israel. The National Pilgrimage Authority will ensure that all eligible individuals are supported in making this meaningful journey,” he stated.
In addition, he commended Ghana’s peaceful Christian-Muslim cooperation and exhorted all Ghanaians to cooperate in order to preserve the nation’s harmony.
