Mahama Promises To Set Up Public Universities In 6 Additional Regions.

If the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins the 2024 elections, John Dramani Mahama, the party’s flagbearer, has promised to build public universities in Ghana’s newly established regions.

On November 14, Mahama spoke to chiefs and supporters in Nkatieso, in the Western North Region’s Juaboso Constituency, and emphasized the significance of guaranteeing equal access to higher education across the country.

He emphasized the need for at least one public institution in each Ghanaian area, characterizing the program as a step in closing the nation’s educational gaps.

“Our manifesto commits to ensuring that every region has a public university. For instance, under our previous tenure, we addressed gaps by establishing the University of Allied Health Sciences in the Volta Region and the University of Environment and Sustainable Development in the Eastern Region,” he noted.

“To our traditional leaders, we appreciate your efforts in reserving lands for tertiary institutions in your regions. Once we are in power, we will rely on these lands to bring development closer to you through new universities,” he added.
