Okyeame Kwame Reveals Alan Kyerematen Offered Him Running Mate Postition
Ghanaian artist Okyeame Kwame revealed that he was approached to serve as Movement for Change presidential candidate John Alan Kyerematen’s running partner.
On Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, he informed Kwame Dadzie that despite having the attributes Alan was seeking, he had to decline the offer.
“I was in Kumasi for an event, and he reached out that I should come see him when I arrived in Accra. So I went to see him, and then he espoused 10 criteria for the person he was looking for to be his vice. So it was very pampering,” he noted.
In addition to other attributes, Okyeame claims that Alan was searching for someone who was married, had a vocation or occupation, had a strong social media presence, had experience in development, and was educated.
When asked why he turned down the request, Okyeame replied that he wasn’t prepared.
“My children are teenagers. My son is 15, my daughter is 13, so if I am going into partisan politics, I need to have prepared them for a year, I had to look at other things like security, what if other people begin to spread false propaganda about you, they go into your cupboard, dig out your ghost and bring them out, girls whose hearts you have broken, things like that,” he said.
He went on to say that he did not want to put his family in danger because he had not adequately prepped them on that point.
