Wanderlust Ghana Halts Accra-Cape Town Trip Following Interpol Alert Of Two Stolen Vehicles
Due to two of its cars being reported as stolen by Interpol, the Wanderlust Ghana Expedition Club has halted its 30,000-kilometer Accra-Cape Town Cross-Country Overland Expedition.
In 2019 and 2022, respectively, the 2016 Lexus RX 350 and the 2018 Toyota Tacoma were found to have been stolen from Canada.
When the team arrived in the Republic of the Congo, they made this finding.
Law enforcement organizations in Canada and Ghana have also been informed, and the marked cars have been turned over to the Republic of the Congo’s authorities.
The Ford F150 Raptor, the team’s last vehicle, has been returned to Ghana.
According to Wanderlust Ghana, the automobiles that were flagged were bought in Accra following due diligence, which included Carfax checks that yielded clear results at the time of purchase.
The group intends to take legal action against the car sellers and has promised to cooperate fully with any continuing investigations.
Along with highlighting the larger problem of stolen cars from North America getting into Ghana’s market, it also revealed plans to work with diplomatic missions from the United States and Canada to solve the problem of stolen cars.
Notwithstanding the loss, Wanderlust Ghana applauded the expedition’s accomplishments, highlighting Ghana’s tourist potential as it traveled 28,811 kilometers through 28 nations in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
The club intends to go on further trips in the future and is purchasing new cars to finish the trip.
