Tottenham boss De Zerbi ‘sorry great guy’ Mohammed Kudus’ season is over.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has expressed profound personal regret after confirming that star forward Mohammed Kudus will miss the remainder of the season due to a severe injury relapse.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian international, who had only just returned to first-team training following a three-month absence, suffered a significant setback to a recurring quad injury that may now require surgery.
“Kudus, for this season, has gone,” De Zerbi stated during a pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s critical clash with Brighton.
The Italian tactician, who recently took the helm at the North London club, admitted to feeling “sorry” for the player, describing him as a “good guy” who was central to his tactical vision for the team’s survival.
“Kudus, for this season, has gone. I am sorry for him, first of all, because he is a good guy. Should be very important for us, but we lose time if we speak about the past.”
The loss of Kudus is a devastating blow for a Tottenham side currently embroiled in a shock relegation battle, sitting 18th in the table with just six games remaining.
Kudus had been a key creative force before his initial injury in January, tallying three goals and six assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
Beyond club concerns, the setback has also cast a shadow over Ghana’s 2026 World Cup campaign, with teammate Antoine Semenyo labeling the situation “frustrating” as the Black Stars prepare for their opening Group L fixture in June.
