At the Swansea.com Stadium, Coventry City defeated Swansea City 2-0 for the first time ever, thanks in large part to Ghanaian attacker Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Coventry took the lead in the seventeenth minute of the game. Ellis Simms calmly finished from close range after Thomas-Asante turned provider and gave him the ideal assist.
Swansea was unable to generate any meaningful chances despite controlling possession and finding it difficult to penetrate Coventry’s well-organized defense.
Thomas-Asante extended Coventry’s lead with a spectacular long-range goal shortly before halftime. The Swansea goalkeeper was stuck to the spot as the winger’s strong right-footed strike from outside the box flew into the top corner.
In the second half, Swansea tried to respond but failed to find the final touch, managing only six shots without putting the Coventry goalkeeper to the test.
Coventry, on the other hand, continued to play well in front of goal and took use of their chances to win.
With his goal and assist, Thomas-Asante now has four goals and two assists in 29 Championship games this season.
Coventry City, who now have 41 points and are in 11th place, will hope to maintain their winning streak when they play Leeds United at the Coventry Building Society Arena on February 5.
