Violence Erupts In Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri: 2 Killed, 500+ Forced To Flee

In the North East Region’s Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri district, communal conflicts have had disastrous results.
Tragically, two people have died and more than 500 more have been displaced.
The Chief of Binde’s disagreement over the installation of opposing chiefs was the catalyst for the violence that erupted in Ngagma-Gbregu last week.
Over the course of the three-day battles, extensive damage was caused. Over 5,000 bags of food that had been stored were destroyed, and more than 150 houses were burned down.
The victims have suffered greatly as a result, particularly women and children who have gone days without enough food.
In the wake of the violence, the displaced victims have made an appeal to the government for assistance, particularly in the area of food supplies.
During a visit by the area’s Member of Parliament, Abednago Bandim, the victims called for government intervention to ease their suffering.
