
The Ministry of the Interior has renewed the curfew on Bawku Municipality and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region through an Executive Instrument.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 24, 2025, Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak announced a revision of the curfew hours, now set from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, effective immediately.
The government has called on chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to exercise restraint and prioritize peaceful conflict resolution amid ongoing tensions.
Furthermore, a total ban has been placed on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within the affected communities. Authorities have cautioned that anyone found in possession of such weapons will face arrest and prosecution.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring security and urged all residents to comply with the directives to maintain peace in the region.
