Energy Ministry refutes need for load-shedding timetable

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has stated that Ghana’s current power generation capacity is sufficient to meet peak demand and that there is no justification for the publication of a load-shedding timetable.

This comes in response to a press conference held by the Minority in Parliament on Monday, May 19, in which they called for a load management schedule to be made public.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Head of Communication, Richmond Rockson, the government emphasised that the nation’s power supply is currently adequate, even during peak hours.

While acknowledging inherited challenges in the electricity distribution system, the Ministry assured the public that the government, in collaboration with power sector stakeholders, continues to implement long-term measures aimed at permanently resolving these issues.

The Ministry urged the public to remain confident in the ongoing improvements and reiterated its commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable power supply across the country.
