Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has emerged as the third-highest scorer in Africa’s FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with just three matchdays left in the group stage.
The Leicester City forward has been in prolific form, netting six goals, including Ghana’s recent 1-1 draw against Chad in Ndjamena. His contributions have been central to the Black Stars’ qualification campaign, with Ghana currently leading Group I on 16 points, three clear of second-placed Madagascar.
At the top of the scoring chart, Denis Bouanga of Gabon leads with eight goals, followed closely by Mohamed Salah of Egypt on seven goals. Ayew’s tally of six puts him firmly in contention as the qualifiers reach their decisive phase.
With Ghana chasing another World Cup berth in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, Ayew’s form will be crucial in the remaining fixtures as Otto Addo’s side looks to seal their place on the global stage.
