Ordered by importance (most essential background/contextual details):
She passed away on 23 August 2025 at Ashanti Mampong Government Hospital after a brief stay for medical treatment.
Abigail Kwarteng, popularly known as Abena Adebi, was born in 1968 in her hometown Bimmah near Nsuta, Ashanti Region.
Her parents were the late Madam Ama Acheampomaa and Rev. Kwadwo Kwarteng.
Adebi had 7 children with Collins Asare, popularly known as Yaw Asare. Out of the 7 children, 6 are males and 1 is female.
Adebi and Yaw Asare lived happily as husband and wife in Mampong, Ashanti, then returned to the village to farm. Marital issues later caused a breakup, leaving all responsibilities on her shoulders.
Her main occupation was selling food—fried yam and fish. She also bought cassava farms, processed them into dried cassava (konkonte), and sold it in large quantities.
Raising 7 children through petty trading was far from easy.
Mama Adebi was generous, caring for everyone—stranger, friend, or colleague. Whenever asked for help, she did her best, whether in kind or cash, treating everyone equally and offering advice when needed.
“A big tree has fallen, leaving an irreparable vacuum.” “We are so grateful for how you raised us… You never hesitated to put your foot down, teaching us right from wrong… The sands of time will never wash away the love we have for you. Your sweet memories will forever remain in our hearts, Mama.”
“What a man can do, a woman can do it better” became real through her.
