ASP Jalil Advises IGP To Resign Amid Investigations Into Leaked Tape
ASP Bawah Abdul Jalil has urged IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to step aside for an impartial investigation into a leaked tape accusing him of serious misconduct.
The tape alleges extrajudicial killings, corruption, vindictiveness, and poor management within the police force under Dampare’s leadership. Abdul Jalil emphasized the need for transparency and justice.
ASP Abdul Jalil emphasized that the IGP’s ongoing presence could obstruct an open and impartial investigation and voiced grave worries about these claims.
He vowed to fight for anyone impacted and defended the need for group action against the purported wrongdoings exposed in the leaked recording.
ASP Abdul Jalil commended Samuel Atta Akyea, the head of the Parliamentary Committee looking into the leaked recording, for his bravery and honesty.
In addition, he chastised public figures like Adam Bonaa, Kofi Bentil, and Prof. Kwesi Anning for their hasty remarks that seemed to absolve the IGP of any misconduct.
He maintained that their remarks, motivated by self-interest, undercut the pursuit of true justice and responsibility.
IGP Dampare was urged by Abdul Jalil to resign in order to allow for a reliable probe.
He emphasized that the people of Ghana deserve the truth, justice, and accountability, as do the families, victims, and police personnel who have suffered abuses.
ASP Abdul Jalil pleaded with the parliamentary committee to proceed with its probe as Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the right honorable speaker, had instructed without hindrance.
He said he would be happy to provide testimony to the committee and help ensure that the investigation was comprehensive and impartial.
