Amadou Onana, a midfield player for Everton, is reportedly in advanced talks to join Aston Villa for a reported £50 million.
The 22-year-old played for Belgium in the 2024 European Championship and may be able to play in the Champions League the following year.
In August 2022, Onana paid £33 million to join the Toffees from Lille. During his time there, he made 72 appearances and scored four goals.
Earlier this year, Arsenal had a preliminary discussion with Onana’s representatives but chose not to pursue their interest.
Villa’s payment reportedly satisfies Everton’s assessment of the midfield player, who was also attracting interest from Manchester United.
Onana, a Senegalese player who began in the Anderlecht youth and rose through the ranks at Hoffenheim, has also played for Hamburg.
Villa had been searching for a new midfield player since they let Douglas Luiz go to Juventus for £42.35 million the previous month.
Jaden Philogene, a winger for Hull, is also anticipated to finish his return in the upcoming days after returning by plane from the Tigers’ training camp in Turkey on Friday.
Less than a year after being traded to the Tigers, the England Under-21 winger is set to return to Villa Park with a five-year contract for roughly £18 million.
He was acquired by Villa in September with a matching option after Ipswich agreed to a £18 million deal with Hull.
