Bank Hospital denies breach of confidentiality in the care of the late Daddy Lumba

The management of The Bank Hospital has dismissed as false and defamatory allegations that it breached the privacy and confidentiality of the late Ghanaian music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away at the facility on July 26, 2025.

In a statement, the hospital refuted claims circulating on social media, allegedly made by social media personality Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, widely known as Afia Schwarzenegger, suggesting that the facility mishandled sensitive information relating to the late musician’s care.

“The Bank Hospital is an internationally accredited healthcare institution, staffed by highly dedicated and professional personnel. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of medical care to all patients,” the statement read.

The hospital emphasised that Mr Fosu was treated with utmost professionalism and confidentiality throughout his time at the facility. It added that his family was fully involved and present from the time of his admission to his unfortunate passing.

“At The Bank Hospital, transparency and patient-centred care are core values. Mr. Fosu’s family was involved and present throughout his medical care, from admission to his unfortunate passing,” the hospital noted.

The management also revealed that it routinely conducts post-event reviews to understand patient outcomes and improve service delivery, assuring that any findings would be shared with the family in line with best medical practices and ethical standards.

“Appropriate internal procedures have been initiated, and relevant information will be disclosed to the family in a manner consistent with ethical medical practice and respect for patient confidentiality,” the statement added.

The Bank Hospital further urged the public to be cautious and verify health-related information from credible sources before making such matters public.
