President of Spanish giants FC Barcelona has warned rival team Real Madrid on their pursuit for Kylian Mbappe.
The Paris Saint-Germain attacker is expected to move to Real Madrid in a lucrative deal at the end of his contract.
Joan Laporta however believes the move could be problematic for the destination club. He claimed the club may need to sell a number of players to satisfy the deal, distorting the locker room.
“And speaking of the numbers that will be there, this distorts the locker room for sure. That’s not a gift.”, he said.
The French forward rejected a renewal offer from his current club worth €70m-gross-per-year and handed back €80m in waived bonuses.
Madrid are reluctant to allow Mbappe to feature in his home Olympics this summer after offering terms similar to those suggested when he was entering free agency in 2022. It includes a €30m yearly salary plus €130m in signing-on fees. He would also enjoy the chance to compete in a more high-profile market in order to earn further sponsorships.
Real Madrid is also in a race for Alphonso Davies alongside Kylian Mbappe. The Bayern Munich star is expected to renew his contract for the club in 2025 or be old out. Madrid have agreed an outline on personal terms with the left-back over a move either this year or next.
