Basic Schools Resume Today

It is anticipated that students in basic school across the country will resume classes today, September 10, 2024, in preparation for the 2024–2025 academic year.

First-cycle students are formally starting the academic year in September for the first time since COVID, which was the prior practice.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued the academic calendar for 2024–2025. The first term of the program will last 15 weeks and formally begin on September 10, 2024.

The term will terminate on December 18, 2024, and on December 19, 2024, the schools will close.

The academic year’s second term will begin on January 7, 2025, and run through Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

After another 15 weeks of instruction, the students and children will have a holiday on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

Tuesday, May 6, 2025, marks the start of the third term of classes, which will last until July 24, 2025, when the academic year ends.

The third term will last for a total of 12 weeks for the students.
