NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced plans to support the revival of the Ghana Premier League and other clubs. During the launch of the NPP’s 2024 Manifesto, he outlined sports development policies, including funding, training, tax incentives, and direct support. Bawumia promised to use the National Lotteries Authority and Gaming Commission to create a Sports Employment Module to help Premier League clubs cover operational costs, including player salaries.
Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia declared that his administration will “provide a bus each to Premier League Clubs” in order to lessen the Premier League teams’ transportation expenses.
Dr. Bawumia also disclosed his government’s plan to “use tax incentives, including a flat tax, to incentivize private sector investments in sports” in an effort to promote corporate participation in sports.
