Bishop Salifu’s Son Sent Back To Remand Custody
Once again, the 16-year-old teenager who killed two people in East Legon by crashing into another automobile has been placed under custody.
When the minor appeared in court last Friday, he was first placed on remand. He faces eight charges, including homicide, recklessly inflicting hurt, risky driving, and driving without a license.
On his initial appearance before the Family and Juvenile Court, he entered a not guilty plea to the allegations.
Since the case was not made public, it is unclear if the minor has been committed to his parents’ care or sent to a correctional facility in accordance with section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2003 (ACT 653).
According to the clause, if a minor is not released on bail, the juvenile court may order that the minor be placed in the custody of his parents, guardian, close relative, or any other suitable person who is willing to care for the minor; alternatively, the minor may be remanded to a remand home that is reasonably close to the court.
The case has been postponed till this November 13th.
