The Black Queens, Ghana’s senior women’s football team, have landed in Casablanca in advance of their Friday, February 21 international friendly matchup with the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco.
In what will be their debut game under new head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, who was just named Ghana’s manager, the 19-man team will play.
On Saturday, February 15, the team left Accra to start getting ready for the much-anticipated match.
Shortly after his appointment, Bjorkegren announced his team, and just four Ghana Women’s Premier League players were selected.
The squad will now have 22 players after a number of foreign-based players have already arrived at camp. Later today, Jennifer Cudjoe, Azumah Bugre, and Grace Asantewaa are anticipated to arrive from the USA, Turkey, and Mexico.
Training for the Black Queens will begin on Monday, with more sessions planned before the game. The top scorer in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Mary Amponsah, was called up at the last minute to take Alice Kusi’s spot since she was sick.
Three days after the Black Queens’ friendly match against Morocco at Père Jègo Stadium, they will take against AS FAR Club, a Moroccan club.
