Blues Climb Back into Top Four with Victory Over Southampton

Chelsea’s decisive victory over Southampton, the Premier League’s worst team, at Stamford Bridge ended their three-match losing streak and put them back in the top four.

After a corner, Christopher Nkunku headed in Tosin Adarabioyo’s flick-on to give the Blues the lead in the 24th minute.

Pedro Neto beat Saints keeper Aaron Ramsdale with a low finish after Nkunku set him up twelve minutes later.

With Levi Colwill rising highest to tip in Neto’s wide free-kick just before halftime, Chelsea added a third goal.

In the 78th minute substitute Tyrique George set up Marc Cucurella who rounded off a fine counter-attack with a drilled finish.

Dominant Chelsea move fourth in the Premier League table, two points clear of Manchester City and Newcastle who play on Wednesday.

Before the match about 100 Chelsea fans protested against the club’s ownership with banners and chants of “Todd Boehly out”.
