Brentford Agrees To £40m Ivan Toney Transfer To Saudi’s Al-Ahli

Al-Ahli, a Saudi Pro League team, made a deal of almost £40 million for Ivan Toney, which Brentford accepted.

According to people close to the England forward, Toney will finalize the transfer and the transaction is expected to go through.

The 28-year-old Toney has yet to make an appearance for Brentford this season, and manager Thomas Frank has already said that he will not play against Southampton on Saturday.

Prior to the season, Al-Ahli made a £35 million bid, which the Bees rejected. In recent weeks, Toney has also been connected to Chelsea.

Victor Osimhen of Napoli has also been connected to a high-profile transfer to Al-Ahli.

Toney’s transfer does not need to be finalized by Friday at 23:00 BST for the Premier League, as the Saudi transfer window does not close until September 2.

One of the most well-known athletes to relocate to Saudi Arabia is Toney, who would join players like Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema there.

Jordan Henderson, a fellow England international, signed Al-Ettifaq from Liverpool in July 2023 but left after six months to join Ajax, a Dutch club.

Toney, part of England’s Euro 2024 squad with three late substitute appearances, scored a penalty in the shootout win over Switzerland. He was excluded from the September Nations League squad and has six caps with one goal for England. Toney scored 20 goals in the 2022-23 Premier League season and four in his first five matches after an eight-month suspension. With 72 goals in 141 games for Brentford, he has also netted 36 goals and provided 11 assists in 85 Premier League matches, scoring 30 out of 32 career penalties.
