Nsoatreman FC defeated Elect-Sport FC 3-0 to start their inaugural CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Sunday afternoon’s first leg of the preliminary round saw the Ghana Premier League squad host the Chadian club at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Yaw Preko led Nsoatreman FC to victory with a strong starting lineup.
Before former Ghana U20 winger Kwabena Adu Meider clinched the victory with a goal shortly before halftime, making it 3-0, Abdul Rahman scored twice, reaching the back of the net in the 30th and 36th minutes.
When goalkeeper Mahamat Bechir was sent off in the 54th minute for handling the ball outside of his penalty area, Elect-Sport FC’s problems only got worse.
In the 70th minute, Nsoatreman FC’s winger Stephen Diyou came dangerously close to scoring a fourth goal, but his effort was blocked by the woodwork.
Elect-Sport FC’s home stadium does not meet CAF’s requirements for hosting international matches, so on Saturday, August 24, the second leg of the preliminary round will take place in a neutral location in Cameroon.
In the following round, Nsoatreman FC will play either Police FC of Rwanda or CS Constantine of Algeria, should they defeat Elect-Sport FC.
After winning the 2023–24 Ghana FA Cup, Nsoatreman FC was awarded a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.
