Chelsea Plotting Guehi’s Return From Crystal Palace

Marc Guehi, a defender for Crystal Palace and England, is a target for Chelsea.

Despite selling Guehi to Palace for £18 million in 2021, before Chelsea was acquired by current owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, the Blues are reportedly keeping the 24-year-old on their defensive target list.

Chelsea has not yet made official contact with Palace, but Guehi’s representatives are aware that his old team is interested.

Guehi signed a five-year contract when he joined Palace, and he has 18 months left on it.

Chelsea’s larger attempts to acquire a central defender in January or the summer transfer window are highlighted by the interest.

Wesley Fofana recently suffered a serious hamstring injury that could keep him out of the game for the season, according to manager Enzo Maresca.

People close to Fofana, however, maintain that they anticipate seeing him play again in a considerably shorter amount of time.

Additionally, Benoit Badiashile won’t be back until at least February.

Before joining Palace, Guehi spent a season and a half on loan at Swansea in the Championship. He made just two senior games for Chelsea, both in the EFL Cup in 2019.

He has since made 22 England appearances.

Newcastle made four offers for Guehi in the summer, with Palace rejecting the last one, which was valued at up to £65 million.

There have also been reports Chelsea could recall Trevoh Chalobah, external from his loan spell at Palace, while Argentinian defender Aaron Anselmino has been recalled from Boca Juniors.
