Court Reveals Freddie Blay’s Son Bought Labadi Beachfront

Explosive court documents reveal that top NPP figures have schemed to take over SSNIT’s hotels, particularly Labadi Beach Hotel. Hon. Bryan Acheampong is not the only one involved. The documents confirm that Freddie Blay’s son now claims ownership of Labadi Beach Hotel’s beachfront.

Labadi Beach Hotel is the only beachfront hotel globally without exclusive control over its beachfront, due to politically exposed persons’ encroachment. The hotel’s board and management are powerless against these figures.

The public only learned of this 2022 takeover by NPP Chairman Freddie Blay’s son because his business partner, Loic Devos Junior, filed a lawsuit in February 2023, alleging fraud and cheating. The case details their joint business, Gold Coast Expo Limited, established in 2019, and their agreement with Labadi Beach Hotel for Polo Beach Club events from 2019 to 2021.

Into the story

All parties had agreed to use Labadi Beach Hotel’s reception as the entrance for Polo Beach Club events to ensure transparent gate fee collection. However, Mr. Kwaw Worsemao Blay breached this agreement, excluding Labadi Beach Hotel and causing it to lose revenue. He then took over the beachfront, creating his own entry to control all gate proceeds since 2022.

Mr. Loic Devos Junior claims he no longer has access to company accounts, and Mr. Blay has taken over all business transactions using Press Xpress Limited. Labadi Beach Hotel’s board protested and launched an inquiry, accusing former MD Rene Vincent-Ernst of conspiring with Mr. Blay. The board found Vincent-Ernst complicit in aiding Blay’s takeover of the beachfront.

The Labadi Beach Hotel board dismissed Mr. Rene Vincent-Ernst on November 3, 2022. His attempt to resign on September 22, 2022, was rejected due to ongoing investigations into his conspiracy with Mr. Blay. Vincent-Ernst later challenged his dismissal in court on November 18, 2022, seeking €40,000 in entitlements.

Mr. Loic Devos Junior is seeking court orders to prevent Mr. Kwaw Worsemao Blay from launching their own Polo Beach Club events at Labadi Beach Hotel, appropriating company interests, and spending Gold Coast funds from the 2021 and 2022 events. He also wants to restrain Blay and Press Xpress Limited from claiming the title of Managing Director of Gold Coast. The outcome of these court cases remains to be seen.

In conclusion

Freddy Blay’s son, Kwaw Worsemao Blay, has taken full control of the Labadi Beach Hotel beachfront, constructing permanent structures and keeping all revenue. Despite complaints from hotel guests about blocked views and noise, the hotel management is powerless.

The scheme to divide Labadi Beach Hotel among NPP members continues unchecked. The board and management of Labadi Beach Hotel and SSNIT have failed to stop this encroachment. Despite claims of unprofitability, SSNIT hotels are being targeted for personal gain.

If President Akufo-Addo doesn’t intervene, our June 18 DEMO will proceed. We are also progressing on a bill to ban the sale of state assets to politicians and politically exposed persons.
