December Elections: CPP Optimistic for Unexpected Win

CPP Expresses Confidence in Surprising Victory for December Polls

Despite recent internal turmoil grabbing headlines, CPP remains optimistic about its chances in the upcoming December elections.

Sylvester Soprano, the party’s Director of Communications, highlighted their readiness for the elections during an interview with Selorm Adonoo on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News. He attributed their confidence to public dissatisfaction with corruption under both the current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as well as the previous president, John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“The state of the CPP couldn’t be better than it is right now. We’re ready to contest the general elections in December and we believe that we will make a surprising victory.”

“Because the people of Ghana are fed up with the open bribery and corruption being practised by President Akufo-Addo’s NPP and [former] President John Mahama’s NDC. The CPP, we are in good shape and we are in position for surprising victory in December,” he stated.

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) holds a significant historical legacy in Ghanaian politics. Founded by Kwame Nkrumah, the party played a pivotal role in the country’s struggle for independence from colonial rule. It advocated for socialism, Pan-Africanism, and rapid industrialization. Although the party’s influence declined after Nkrumah’s overthrow in 1966, it continues to exist as one of Ghana’s political entities. The CPP emphasizes principles of social justice, economic empowerment, and anti-corruption efforts. While it hasn’t held significant power in recent years, the party remains active in Ghanaian politics, participating in elections and contributing to political discourse.
