Phil Foden, an England midfielder, will return to Germany on Thursday after visiting the UK to attend his third child’s birth.
The Football Association stated on Wednesday that the 24-year-old had departed the England camp due to a “pressing family matter.”
With 37 caps, Foden has started each of England’s three tournament group matches, including the draw against Slovenia on Tuesday.
In the last 16 of Euro 2024, England takes against Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday at 17:00 BST. Foden is expected to be practicing on Friday.
After three games, manager Gareth Southgate’s team had five points, which put them atop Group C.
Foden and his partner Rebecca Cooke revealed their third child’s impending arrival on Instagram in April.
Son Ronnie, who is five years old, and daughter True, who is two years old, are the couple’s other children.
