Former Man United Striker Anthony Martial Signs For Greek Club AEK Athens

Anthony Martial has committed to AEK Athens, a Greek team. The attacker left Manchester United this summer and joined on a free transfer.

His nine-year tenure with the team came to an end when his contract at Old Trafford expired.

The 28-year-old is scheduled to land in Greece this evening.

According to SPORT24, Martial would have signed a contract with AEK on Monday night had there not been a delay. He is expected to make £2.5 million a season with the team.

He will then rank among the club’s highest earnings ever.

Erik Lamela, a former Tottenham player who joined the team in the summer, is said to be the highest paid player at €2.5 million (£2.1 million) per season.

Martial, nevertheless, is anticipated to earn more than that amount, making him the team’s highest paid player.

Alongside him will be former Brentford goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, as well as former Watford players Roberto Pereyra and Nordin Amrabat.

After spending £36 million to join the Red Devils from Monaco in 2015, Martial was once the most expensive teenager in the world. However, after scoring 17 goals in 2019–20, his form declined.

In 19 games during his last season with Manchester United, he only scored twice.

He has also experienced several injury setbacks, but he is now looking to relaunch his career.
