Free SHS Suppliers Appeal To Government To Settle Outstanding Debts Promptly

Concerns over late payments for commodities given under the Free Senior High School (F.S.H.S.) policy have been raised by the National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS).

The impacted contracts, which cover the academic years 2022–2023 and 2023–2024, cover necessities like house gowns and uniforms.

NAIS said in a statement that many members are still unpaid, which causes serious financial difficulties, even though they have fulfilled their responsibilities to support the government’s flagship educational agenda.

The group emphasized how their situation has gotten worse due to increased raw material costs, which have made it almost impossible for them to continue operating or fulfill their financial obligations.

NAIS reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the government to address the problem, but emphasized that prompt action is required to prevent more hardship for its members and guarantee the continuous success of the programme.

The group has urged the government to give paying suppliers’ outstanding debts first priority so that they can continue to support the education industry and the vital requirements of students across the country.

The viability of the F.S.H.S. policy and the significance of timely supplier payments to preserve trust in government initiatives have been the subject of increased discussions as a result of this development.
