Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare remains confident despite Ghana’s back-to-back defeat in the November international window.
The West African heavyweights lost to Japan and South Korea 2-0 and 1-0 respectively in the Kirin Cup tournament.
The losses have raised questions about the team’s quality ahead of the 2026 World Cup to be held in North America next summer.
However, the Hearts of Oak shot-stopper, who missed the game against Japan believes the strength of the team lies in the unity of the squad.
“We stand together in victory and defeat. The support means everything. Thank you Ghana!” he posted on social media after the tournament.
Although he joined his teammates late in Japan, Asare produced a sensational performance against South Korea, saving a penalty in the 1-0 defeat to the Taeguk Warriors.
Asare has conceded only three goals in 8 Ghana Premier League matches this season, and was recently named the Sports Writers Association of Ghana Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will find out their opponents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage at the draw to be held on December 5, 2025 in Washington, DC.
