Ghana’s Amida Brimah, Santa Cruz in NBA G-League Playoffs

Ghanaian center Amida Brimah is poised to participate in the NBA Gatorade League (G-League) Playoffs as the Santa Cruz Warriors secure their spot in the postseason tournament. Despite Brimah’s absence, the Warriors clinched a 131-123 victory over Rip City Remix in their final regular-season game, securing the fourth seed in the Western Conference standings.

In the opening round of the playoffs on Tuesday, April 2nd, Santa Cruz is set to face off against the Salt Lake City Stars. The victor will advance to the semifinals to challenge the Conference champions, the Stockton Kings.

Following stints in France and Belgium, including a championship win with Filou Oostende, Brimah has returned to the G-League and secured a playoff spot. Standing at 6 feet 10 inches, the player boasts prior postseason experience from his tenure with the Austin Spurs, an affiliate of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, where he clinched the G-League title in 2018.

During the 2023-2024 season, Brimah achieved impressive averages of 7.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks across 23 league games. His outstanding performance led to him becoming the NBA G-League’s record-holder for the most blocked shots of all time.
