Mussa Dankwah, the executive director and head of global research at Global InfoAnalytics, has emphasized that any political party in the Greater Accra area that receives a majority of the vote is likely to have an advantage in the general elections of 2024.
He clarified that the outcome of national elections is significantly influenced by Greater Accra, which has the largest voter population.
According to Mr. Dankwah, obtaining a sizable number of votes in the area becomes essential for any party to succeed.
Dankwah stated, “The reason Accra is so important is that if you perform well in Greater Accra, it can significantly boost your overall numbers.”
He went on to say that although the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s John Dramani Mahama won the Greater Accra region in the 2020 elections, he is expected to get a larger share of the vote in 2024.
“If Mahama wins Greater Accra by a comfortable margin, it could make it easier for him to secure a one-touch victory,” Dankwah remarked during an interview on Accra-based 3FM on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
