Government Releases GH¢550 Million For NHIS Claims Payment

The GH¢550 million payout to medical facilities for claim payment has been announced by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
The Authority anticipates that the recent uncapping of NHIA funding will make it easier to settle claims on time in the future.
Dr. Victor Bampoe, the NHIA’s chief executive officer, was upbeat about the program’s prospects.
The President has instructed the Finance Minister to release, within 30 days, the funds accrued to the National Health Insurance Scheme. We expect to receive funds more regularly, so we can, in turn, pay service providers promptly,” he stated.
In the meantime, the NHIA has stated that it will broaden its free dialysis program to give more people nationwide access to therapy that can save their lives.
The NHIA will purchase more dialysis equipment and necessary supplies for medical facilities across the country as part of the program.
The government’s larger plan to increase access to essential healthcare services is consistent with the expansion.
Dr. Victor Bampoe, the NHIA’s chief executive officer, clarified that the program’s goal is to expand the number of renal disease patients covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
