GRIDCo Blames Nationwide Outage On Bushfire
The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has announced that the power outage which occurred on Saturday, January 14 around 11:57 am was due to a systems disturbance.
GRIDCo in a statement stated that the power outage occurred as a result of a trip in its 330kv Aboadze-Anwomaso line.
The system disturbance caused all thermal plants, Bui generators and customer loads to trip. According to the statement, the nationwide power outage was not deliberate.

The company said the cause of the trip in the power lines was a raging bushfire under its high-voltage lines near Tarkwa. A fire team is on-site to bring the fire under control according to a statement.
GRIDCo apologised for the inconvenience caused to many due to the power outage. This takes Ghanaians back to dum so days. The days of intensive low-shedding collapsing businesses under the Mahama administration.
The company assured that restoration of the grid has commenced and efforts are ongoing to bring back power to all affected areas and customers. Ghanaians have also accepted their apology in good faith.
